Despite an impressive 100.9mpg and emissions of just 65g/km , the S500 has a combined output of 442hp thanks to its 3-litre biturbo V6 engine which will work with a 116hp electric motor. With this kind of power under the bonnet, the S-Class hybrid is capable of 0-62 in just 5.2 seconds which isn’t bad at all. Another stat which grabbed our attention is its top speed of 155mph which is limited electronically.

You might be thinking, why would I spend extra on the S-class when I could just get a cheaper Hybrid like the Toyota Prius+, and that simply depends on your priorities. The Mercedes really is in a league of it’s own when it comes to comfort and luxuries. All seats in the S-Class have a built in hot stone massage function for a start, and they have really considered everything, there is even an app you can get for your phone that allows you to start heating or cooling down your car before you actually get in it, from the comfort of your bedroom or office. The app also lets you know how much charge and range you have left.

Safety features are also top of the range with the S500, and it will include seat belt mounted airbags. Another great touch is the Magic Body Control system, essentially this adjusts the cars suspension to suit any imbalances/bumps in the road ahead and it does this with help from a camera that is on the front of the car.
